Row To Raise

Raising hope in young people facing mental or physical trauma

2018 Race Start

The Challenge

In December 2018, the Row to Raise campaign aims to inspire hundreds of young people when Kelda Wood attempts to solo row the Atlantic as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Kelda’s taking on the 3,000 mile challenge with the aim of raising hope in young people facing physical or mental trauma, and to raise awareness about relevant support available. She also aims to raise over £50,000 for Climbing Out, the charity she set up after her own life changing injury. Climbing Out runs 5 day outdoor activity programmes aimed at rebuilding confidence and self esteem in young people facing life changing injury, illness or trauma.

Young People – The Stories!

Each day Kelda’s on the Atlantic, she’ll be rowing for a different young person who’s been through some form of mental or physical trauma. We’ll be sharing their stories, as well as links to relevant charities and organisations providing support. Our aim is to reach others who are currently feeling isolated and alone, to give them hope and motivation, and provide links to support that can help them to take that first step forward. You can also tell us about your own story. Read more to find out how.

How to make it happen! You could be part of the Row to Raise Team!

To make all of this possible, Kelda firstly has to get to the start line! She’s already raised over £70,000 but she needs another £35,000 to make Row to Raise happen!

Not a penny of the money she raises for Climbing Out will be used to fund the challenge. So she’s looking for corporate partners to come on board, join the Row to Raise Team and help make Row to Raise a reality!

Kelda also aims to raise awareness about Climbing Out, the charity she set up in 2010. Climbing Out runs 5 day outdoor activity programmes aimed at rebuilding confidence and self esteem in young people who've been through a life changing injury, illness or trauma.
